How to convert a PDF to JPG

  1. Click the PDF to JPG tab and drop your PDF into the box, or click the box to choose a file. If the PDF has a password, you will be asked for it.
  2. Wait a moment while the page previews appear. All pages are selected by default. Click a page to turn it off, or type a range such as 1-3, 5 and press Apply.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG and a resolution. 150 DPI suits most screens and email. 300 DPI is better for printing.
  4. Press Download selected. One page downloads as a single image. Several pages download as one ZIP file.

Why use a browser-based PDF to JPG converter

Most online converters ask you to upload the PDF to their server. That is a problem for contracts, ID scans, invoices or anything private. This converter reads the PDF inside your browser tab and draws each page onto a canvas on your own device. The file is not sent to ConvertsFiles. The only things downloaded from the internet are the open-source libraries (PDF.js, JSZip, jsPDF) that do the work, and they load only when you use a feature.

There is no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit set by us. The real limit is your device: a very large PDF or a very high resolution needs more memory, so a phone may struggle with a 300 DPI export of a long document. If that happens, convert fewer pages at a time or pick 150 DPI.

Which resolution should you pick?

UseResolutionFormat
Web page, email, chat apps72–150 DPIJPG
Social media, slides, thumbnails150 DPIJPG
Printing, scanning, archiving300 DPIJPG or PNG
Pages with sharp text, charts or logos150–300 DPIPNG

JPG files are smaller and work everywhere, but they are lossy, so very fine text can look slightly soft at low quality. PNG is lossless and keeps text crisp, but the files are larger. Both formats here get a white background, because PDF pages are often transparent.

What this tool does and does not do

It converts each PDF page into a picture, exactly as the page looks on screen. It does not extract the separate photos embedded inside a PDF, and it does not make scanned text searchable. A PDF protected by a password can only be opened if you know the password. If you need to shrink the PDF first, use the PDF compressor. To pull out or reorder pages before converting, try PDF Merge & Split.

JPG to PDF: combine images into one document

The second tab does the reverse. Add photos or scans, drag them into the order you want, pick A4, US Letter or a page that fits each image, and download one PDF. Transparent PNG images are placed on a white background. Large photos are scaled down to a sensible size so the PDF does not become huge.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change a PDF file to JPG?

Open the PDF to JPG tab, add your PDF, choose JPG as the format, and press Download selected. Each page becomes one image. Multiple pages are packed into a ZIP.

Can I convert a PDF to JPG for free?

Yes. This tool is free, needs no account and adds no watermark. Everything runs in your browser.

Can I convert a PDF to an image without uploading it?

Yes. The conversion happens on your device, so the PDF is never uploaded to a server. You can check this in your browser network tab while converting.

How do I turn a PDF into JPG without Acrobat?

You do not need Acrobat or any installed software. Any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone or Android can run this tool.

Can I convert a PDF to JPG on my phone?

Yes. The tool works in mobile browsers. For long PDFs choose 72 or 150 DPI and convert a few pages at a time, because phones have less memory.

What is the best resolution for PDF to JPG?

Use 150 DPI for screens and email, and 300 DPI when you plan to print. Higher resolution gives larger files.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Click the previews to select pages, or type a range such as 2-4, 7 and press Apply.

Is the quality the same as the original PDF?

Text and graphics are drawn from the PDF at the resolution you choose. At 300 DPI the result is sharp enough for most printing. JPG compression can soften very small text, so use PNG or Maximum quality when that matters.
